TO BELIEVE THE IMPOSSIBLE

Ica had a responsible, stressful office job. At the age of 68, 4 months ago, she had a stroke affecting her left side. She did not receive free rehabilitation, the family rented a hospital bed, a private physiotherapist visited her daily, who after a while said that she could not get any more out of it (mostly due to transfers).

Ica is a delicately built, impulsive personality, and this trait was amplified by the stroke, and she even shows ADHD symptoms, which manifests itself in activity. It is likely that the motor nerve pathway, the self-regulation system, and its inhibition are damaged, because even in a lying position she is constantly moving, sitting up in bed almost every 5 seconds, and then immediately lying back down. In addition, her alpha wave, which is necessary for sleep and meditation, is not in place: she is very alert, sleeps little. In addition, she is in diapers – she is not incontinent, but she cannot go to the toilet.

Searching for a way to improve, the family found the ARNI method. After the first training, they saw and felt that it was different from traditional physiotherapy. Two or three ARNI technical after an opportunity (lying down exercises in bed), first with help, then he sat alone on the edge of the bed. This was a huge success for him (because his willpower is limitless). No more waiting for help. From then on, we did exercises sitting down. His pace had to be constantly slowed down with precisely executed, controlled, task-oriented exercises (because the brain doesn't like fast, you have to re-teach the nerve cells and their connections) so that what was learned would be properly fixed.

When doing the exercises, I had him count: 1, 2, 3; but he did everything very quickly – for the reason mentioned above – so we slowed it down by having him say text along with the numbers, for example:: one white kitten, two white kittens, 3 white kittens… – and it worked! The movements slowed down, so the exercises became more precise. For a more restful sleep, I suggested relaxation music, which we selected together.

In addition to correcting mistakes and showing them, encouragement, praise, and maintaining motivation are essential! The next time I asked for training shoes; I wanted to give him a cathartic experience! This happiness! He hadn't had shoes on his feet for months, he was so happy like a little child! We learned how to stand up using the ARNI technique and sit down, then moved to a chair. You should have seen the joy on his face!

"I'm finally sitting on a chair after all this time and I have shoes on my feet!"

After much practice, he managed to stand up and briefly hold on to the back of the chair, then stand without it for a moment. This greatly encouraged him and encouraged him to continue his struggle.

To be honest, these successes bring the trainer just as much happiness as they do to the survivors!
