Through a trainer's eyes

Coming home from the hospital after a stroke to the “what to do next” is an unknown situation for both the survivor and the family members. I find that many people seek help, while others don’t even know what to do. They try to solve it on their own. the care: most often diapering, bathing, etc. Families focus on caring mechanisms, but in many cases, due to the lack of processing of psychological and mental problems and empathy, the survivor is left without help.

As a coach, I consider mental support essential. I believe that the road to recovery, filled with positive thoughts, sometimes with humor (which is at least as important as setting and then achieving goals), is already half the battle.

We can't change what has happened. We have to accept it and build on it, make the best of it, the most of it, with professional help, lots of practice, perseverance, and continuous motivation.

“DAY BY DAY, STAIR BY STAIR, I CONTINUE TO WALK ON THIS SPECIAL PATH…. DOES THIS STAIR LEAD UP OR DOWN?

I DON'T KNOW THIS. BUT I WILL NOT STOP.”

(Sandor Marai)

My stakeholders understand, but sometimes they even cry because of their vulnerable situation; they find it humiliating, for example, to be in diapers.

Their first goal is to get them to a state where they can go to the toilet. In light of this, we/they do targeted exercises (first with help, then independently) that help them to leave the bed as soon as possible. They learn how to sit on the edge of the bed independently, with help, and then without, and move into the wheelchair. And gradually, with patience, progress towards the next goal.

Me! Me! I just want to express my deepest respect to Gabi Pásztor and her dear trainers with appropriate professional backgrounds.
My dear wife also has a trainer, whose nearly a month of dedicated work has put my wife Marikaa back on her feet! She can now walk short distances on her own, albeit with a 3-legged stick! She is already practicing knitting and crocheting. This Trainer is Andrea Körmöcziné! Congratulations to all Trainers and keep it up!
Gabi Pásztor! You are the new MOTHER TERESA of the 21st century!
